I spent the day at the Arts in Bloom art festival in Downtown McKinney hanging out with nine other artists in The Art Club of McKinney tent. The entire square was packed with artists selling art, prints, jewellery and a multitude of artisan products. It can get quite hot in Texas in April but it turned out to be a cool day and around 5pm I actually headed back to my car and got my dog blanket. Thankfully I never really do glamour!!!!
I had a chance to leave my stall a few times and managed to go visit with some of the other artists on the other three sides of the square. It certainly looked like people were having fun and lots of people were getting some beautiful art. While generating sales is a nice bonus of taking part in events like this it’s actually the meeting with art lovers and artists that makes it so worthwhile. I love chatting with people who come visit my stall and want to know how I painted something especially the techniques used with my alcohol ink art and to catch up with all the artists who I usually don’t see as often.
I had a fabulous day and sold ten paintings and then bought some art and some jewellery from a couple of the other vendors but actually went home with a little profit. My small floral original were popular so I may take more of those next time I am out at a similar event.
