Remembrance

Update 03/19/16 I was excited to find this was awarded the prize for Best Minimalist painting in the Collin County Art Show. I wanted to reflect the simplicity of the poppy in the painting and I love the way it turned out. Now all I need to do is get a clear photograph.

This really has to be the worst photo of a painting (if you look closely you can even see me taking the photo!!! )but I cannot get another until the end of the exhibition on 5th March and I’m so disappointed because this minimalist abstract of poppies has got to be one of my favourite if not the most favourite of my paintings. It has humble beginnings as I was experimenting on acetate and absolutely loved the effect. I may try that again but literally I will paint on anything that does not move! I’ve seen some fabulous paintings by other artists on substrates such as cardboard, wood, glass and sometimes the effects they achieve are far more impressive than on regular substrates such as paper or canvas.

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields”
