Tranquility – Water lilies after Monet

There is a small pond outside of my workplace full of water lilies and koi.

It’s so nice to sit out  next to it, a tranquil place in the midst of offices and cars. In the spring any breeze covers the surface with petals from the many blossom trees surrounding it.

I wanted to show those petals on the surface of the water and love the way they added extra colour to the gently sunlit ripples of the pond.

We had threats of storms and tornadoes and I took myself off to paint something peaceful and calm and this painting was the result.

The koi were hiding well below the surface. I’ll get them next time!
